Chapter One :Chapter 1

Song Jiayin stood anxiously at the entrance of the Civil Affairs Bureau, clutching her cell phone. Last night, her boyfriend of three years called her, saying he wanted to marry her. She couldn't describe her feelings about this sudden proposal. She had been in a relationship with Wu Zihao for 3 years and they should have gotten married by now. But there was always something missing between them. For some unknown reason, Wu Zihao never brought up the subject of marriage, so they had to put the wedding plans on hold.

She looked at her phone and saw that half an hour had passed since their agreed appointment time. Weak and worn out, she crouched down by the bureau's entrance, watching couples come and go. Somehow, she felt a sense of relief.

Could it be that Wu Zihao had second thoughts at the last moment?

When Wu Zihao mentioned the matter over the phone the previous day, Song Jiayin found it very strange. They had never broached the topic before, why would he suddenly want to get married now?

She chuckled with bitterness and dialed Wu Zihao's number. He picked up quickly, and there was a long silence before she found the strength to ask, "Zihao...are you still coming?"

Wu Zihao hesitated before replying, "Jiayin, I'm sorry. I was impulsive last night. You should come back first, I..."

"It's okay," Song Jiayin cut him off and said tersely, "If that's the case, forget it... let's just break up."

"What did you say?" Wu Zihao abruptly exclaimed.

"I said, let’s break up." Song Jiayin replied calmly. "Dragging this out seems rather pointless, I..." Before she could finish, she was abruptly pulled away. She looked at the back of the man who was dragging her with surprise, shouting, "Sir! What do you think you are doing?"

The man kept moving, completely oblivious to her protests, pulling her into the Civil Affairs Bureau. Startled and angered, Song Jiayin warned, "Sir! If you keep going like this, I'll call for help!"

He ignored her and dragged her into a room, pushed her into a chair, and before she could react, an official took their photo. Blinded by the flash, she covered her eyes, shouting, "What are you doing! What does this mean?"

"Sir, miss, please show your IDs," a staff politely requested.

Song Jiayin squinted, still seeing spots, and asked, "What are you trying to do?"

The man didn't wait for her response, grabbed her bag, and pulled out her ID to hand to the staff. Realization struck her and she reached out to grab it back, but he swiftly reached out to hold her wrists, entirely indifferent.

Only then did she look up at the man. Handsome nose, deep-set eyes, he could truly be described as one in a million. But right now, Song Jiayin was too irritated to notice his good looks. Instead, she asked loudly, "Excuse me, Sir! Can you tell me just what you think you're doing?"

The man kept quiet, watching the official without any expression. The staff had already stamped the necessary seals, opened up two little booklets, and handed them with the ID back to the man, smiling, "Congratulations to both of you!"

Song Jiayin paused, asking, "What does that mean?"

The man collected the two marriage certificates and his ID, then handed over Song Jiayin's ID along with a red booklet. Without a word, he turned and walked away.
